The School Education Department of Karnataka has officially announced one of the biggest teacher recruitments in the state’s history. The department has issued the much-awaited notification for Graduate Primary School Teacher Recruitment (GPSTR) 2026 on August 12, 2026, with a huge number of 15,000 teaching vacancies in government primary and secondary schools for the forthcoming 2026-27 academic session.
Department of Public Instruction (Department of School Education), Karnataka has called applications from the candidates belonging to the various categories who aspire to become teachers. The main attraction of this recruitment drive is the Graduate Primary School Teacher (GPSTR) post. There are also Assistant Master, Primary School Teacher, Physical Education Teacher and Computer Science Teacher posts, giving diverse opportunities for candidates with varied qualifications.

The GPSTR category alone has more than half of the total vacancies, 8,500. The state government has strategically distributed these positions between the two regions as follows:
