SBC Recruitment 2026: The Ship Building Center (SBC), Visakhapatnam, Ministry of Defense has published a notice for recruitment to 10 Group ‘C’ posts. Recruitment for the posts of Construction Assistant ‘A’, Construction Handler, Fire Engine Driver and Civil Motor Transport Driver will be filled by vacancies. Candidates who are interested and eligible can apply online from August 22, 2026 to September 14, 2026.
Qualification for Application?
Post Eligibility
Qualification of Construction Assistant ‘A’ (Fitter) : (i) Should have passed 10th standard. Also, Must have an ITI/NAC or equivalent certificate in the relevant trade and 2 years of work experience.
Construction Handler (Electrician) 10th pass with ITI in Electrician trade from recognized institution.
Fire Engine Driver (OG) Must have passed 10th Grade. Must have a valid heavy motor vehicle driving license, knowledge of vehicle mechanisms and minimum 3 years of experience in driving heavy vehicles. Physical health is also needed.
Civil Motor Transport Driver (OG) – 10th pass can apply. They should have valid driving license of Light Motor Vehicle/Motor Car, technical knowledge of vehicles and minimum 3 years of experience of driving a motor car. Preference will be given to those with a Heavy Vehicle licence.
Age Limit Rules for SBC Group C Recruitment 2026?
Age of applying candidates should be in between 18 to 27 years. Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates will get relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit for reserved posts. PwBD candidates will be given a relaxation of 10 years. Meanwhile, the upper age limit is 40 years for departmental candidates who have completed 3 years of regular central government service and 45 years for ST category.
How to Apply
Computer Based Test (CBT): It is an online test which will be of 120 minutes for all the posts. It will have 100 multiple choice questions. The questions will be in Hindi and English.
Skill Test: Not required for CA’A’ and CH positions. ForFED (OG) posts,candidates have to pass endurance and skill test based on merits of CBT
FED (OG) Test: This consists of physical tests like lifting buckets, squats, push-ups, and sit-ups. Then a skill test on driving, knowledge of vehicle and fire fighting.
CMTD (OG) Examination: The candidates selected for this post will have to pass only a skill test. The skill test will comprise of a driving test and questions/tests on vehicle mechanisms.
Final Merit List: Final selection will be based on the marks obtained in CBT. Successful completion of the endurance or skill test is required if applicable.
Verification of Documents: The Educational and other necessary documents of selected candidates will be verified.
Medical Test: Candidates shall have to undergo medical examination before final appointment.

For the SBC Group C recruitment, the candidates have to score minimum marks in the CBT exam.
UR (Unreserved) Category: 35%
Other Backward Class (OBC): 30%
All Other Categories (SC/ST/PwBD etc) : 25 %
